Through its work, GR India engages with community and religious leaders, celebrities, public figures, and political leaders, along with partnering with like-minded organizations who put women and girls at the center of their work.

Community Members:

Through community screenings and other community-based interventions, GR India has reached out to teachers and principals, parents, and religious leaders. These interactions aim to spark conversations how gender charts our future pathway and the role that each one of us can play in combating harmful gender stereotypes.

Public Figures and Celebrities:

Public figures are compelling instruments for driving behavioral change. Girl Rising India leverages this power in its workstreams to build a world where girls and women can dream big for themselves. GR India’s launch in the country in 2015 with Woh Padhegi, Woh Udegi demonstrated how celebrities can amplify the reach and impact. The film harnessed the talents of India’s biggest Bollywood stars including Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Freida Pinto, Parineeti Chopra, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Sushmita Sen, Amitabh Bachchan, Nandita Das, Farhan Akhtar, and Alia Bhatt, all of whom lent their voices to the characters in the film as well as leveraged their star-power to amplify the issue of gender equality.

In 2018, Arjun Kapoor and GR India came together to spotlight how gendered norms and stereotypes influence the aspirations and dreams of young girls and adolescents.

Developed with support from Vodafone Foundation, Arjun Kapoor launched the Girl Rising Game, a unique mobile application that helps users to identify their internal gender-bias through an interactive platform. Read more about the game here.
